Nature’s Bakery Begins NASCAR Journey with Danica Patrick

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (Aug. 18, 2015) – Nature’s Bakery, a rapidly-growing snacks and food brand headquartered in Reno, Nevada, has joined Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR) to become the primary sponsor of driver Danica Patrick and the No. 10 team in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series beginning with the 2016 season.

The multiyear sponsorship agreement will see Nature’s Bakery and its signature tagline, “Energy for Life’s Great Journeys”, adorn Patrick’s No. 10 Chevrolet SS for 28 races a year.

Nature’s Bakery was founded in 2010 by the father-and-son duo of Dave and Sam Marson with a mission of making delicious, convenient, on-the-go snacks that complement health-conscious living and active, everyday lifestyles. Their lineage in the food industry can be traced back to the 1960s when Dave’s father, Richard Marson, opened a family bakery. Growing up in the bakery, Dave passed his passion and skills along to his son, Sam, whereupon the two combined their knowledge and entrepreneurial spirit to form Nature’s Bakery.

“Danica Patrick is one of the most fit and health-conscious drivers in all of racing and she embodies the Nature’s Bakery customer,” said Dave Marson, founder of Nature’s Bakery. “We make great products that complement Danica’s lifestyle and the always on-the-go environment in which she competes. Nature’s Bakery provides ‘Energy for Life’s Great Journeys’ and we’re very proud to embark upon this NASCAR journey with Danica and Stewart-Haas Racing.”

“It’s an honor to represent Nature’s Bakery and also a great deal of responsibility,” Patrick said. “They have ambitious goals and they’re going to rely on me and everyone at Stewart-Haas Racing to deliver. I have ambitious goals too. It’s why I came to NASCAR and, specifically, to Stewart-Haas Racing. There’s still a lot I want to achieve in this sport and I’m looking to continue my professional journey with a brand as determined as I am.”

Patrick is motorsports’ most recognizable athlete and the most marketable personality in NASCAR according to Repucom’s 2015 Davie Brown Index. Her success on the racetrack, which includes an IndyCar Series victory and a Daytona 500 pole, transcends her into the mainstream, proven by a 2014 Harris Poll which named Patrick the second-most recognized female athlete in the United States, behind only tennis star Serena Williams.

“All you need to say is ‘Danica’ and people know exactly who you’re talking about,” Dave Marson added. “She has immersed herself and succeeded in a very intense sport and been recognized for her efforts. By offering convenient, easy-to-find and affordable products that people can feel better about eating, we’ve carved a niche for Nature’s Bakery in the fast-growing, packaged snack-food industry. With our partnership with Danica and Stewart-Haas Racing, we’re able to take that niche mainstream.”

“Danica has proven she belongs in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series and we’re very happy to have her a part of our team for years to come,” said Tony Stewart, co-owner of Stewart-Haas Racing with Gene Haas, founder of Haas Automation, the largest CNC machine tool builder in North America. “Nature’s Bakery is a natural fit with Danica. She has played an important role in the growth of all the businesses associated with her and our growth as a race team. Our partnership with Nature’s Bakery is all about growing their business. In Danica, we have the best possible person to help Nature’s Bakery achieve its goals.”

Our Day At Phoenix International Raceway

March 3, 2014 By Vinny O'Hare 2 Comments

Flyover at PIR

Yesterday was the first NASCAR race we have attended since Hurricane Sandy put 8 feet of water in our house and destroyed everything we owned at the end of 2012. For those that don’t know I moved our family out to Phoenix area while I go back and build and fight with insurance companies and building permits. Enough about that! Yesterday was a get back to normal day for us as we attended our first NASCAR race since the storm. We didn’t plan on going to the race so I didn’t put in for media passes like we usually do. We bought tickets a week or so ago when we figured I didn’t have to be back in NY and we went to the race.

It was our first time at Phoenix International Raceway and I was thoroughly impressed. We did have to park far away but that was our own fault getting there late. I need the exercise anyway! We were still out by the haulers buying me a new Jimmy Johnson hat when the flyover happened. It was amazing to see in person and I was glad I had my camera out already so I could take the shot.

Entering the raceway they had big banners set up celebrating the 50th year of the raceway. People were posing in front of it to capture a memory.

We went inside and had good seats in the mid 20’s in the Allison section. It was right in between turn 1 and 2. I couldn’t think of a better place to sit.

This is a great place to sit as the cars come roaring down the front strech and have to hit the brakes entering the turn. Something a few drivers like Justin Allgaier forgot to do who was involved in a wreck with Danica Patrick that also collected a few more cars. I watched the whole thing unfold and could see it happening before he did.

It is a shame because Danica had a good car and was in the back which put her in the middle of these cars. I think she had a top 10 car if she would of had any luck with track position earlier in the race. This wreck produced the strangest thing I have ever seen at a track. I was embarrassed to be a guy, a NASCAR fan and a person in general.

Danica’s car came to a stop after the wreck right in front of us. A big guy behind me yelled “Danica go home” in a very chauvinistic manner. Just as I was ready to say something to the guy his girlfriend punches him right in his stomach. I hope Danica couldn’t hear him, but saw this from inside her car. It certainly made my day. Male chauvinism has no place in NASCAR, or anywhere else for that matter.

The race was very enjoyable and it really was 2 races in one race. Joey Logano totally dominated the first part of the race and Kevin Harvick dominated the second half. Dale Jr and the rest of the Hendrick guys did all the could but Kevins car was much better. Congrats to him on his first win for Stewart-Haas racing.

We took over 2000 pictures and will be using them in upcoming post. Expect a few more post from us this week than normal.

Danica Patrick Talks About Daytona

July 5, 2013 By Vinny O'Hare Leave a Comment

Danica Patrick HelmetDANICA PATRICK, NO. 10 GODADDY CHEVROLET SS, met with members of the media at Daytona International Speedway and discussed her success in the Daytona 500 in February, if she has a plan for the last lap of this weekend’s 400-mile race.

TALK ABOUT YOUR THOUGHTS COMING BACK TO DAYTONA:
“Happy 4th of July. We had the pole here in Daytona and started the year off that way. It would be nice to start the second half of the year off the same way. At the end of the day it’s not the most important thing, but it sure is nice to start up front. Obviously we don’t have our Daytona car here, but we have our back-up and that tested really well. We nearly ran that anyway. It should be good still.”

CAN YOU DO THE SAME THING HERE SATURDAY NIGHT THAT YOU DID IN THE DAYTONA 500? HOW MUCH DOES A 500 MILE RACE IN THE WINTER TIME AND THE DAYTIME HERE TRANSLATE TO A 400 MILE RACE IN THE SUMMER TIME AT NIGHT BOTH WITH THE CAR AND THE SET-UP AND WITH YOU AND THE SKILLS YOU HAVE LEARNED AT DAYTONA SO FAR?
“To answer your first question can I do the same thing yeah I don’t get worse as the year goes on. Especially in the early years of running in a new series, so presumably I should hopefully have better experience at doing it especially having done Talladega too. It’s definitely possible. The difference you know the cars are well stuck here. I feel like it’s not going to be worlds of difference. It’s maybe a little less single file just because we have been in the car all year and people don’t feel the need to just kind of get on with the season, get it started and start the year off well. As opposed to maybe a little more antsy-ness, a little more comfort in the car. You could see some more people a little bit more prepared to pass and know how to do it a little easier than at the start of the year. It should be very similar in the end.”

DO YOU HAVE ANY MORE IDEA NOW HOW TO CLOSE THE DEAL AT THE END OF THE RACE? OR IS IT STILL HELTER SKELTER?
“I think it is still a little bit of helter skelter. Right after the race I said I wish I would have had a plan, but then I got done with it and I talked to Tony (Stewart) afterwards. He said you probably had more to lose than you had to gain by trying something at the end. He said you could have just as well of been 20th in the end as opposed to where you did finish. You probably had more to lose so he thought I made the right decision on what I did. After I said good job to Jimmie (Johnson) after he won. I had said that I wished I knew what to do better. He said that the two times that he has won now at Daytona were the two times he didn’t have any kind of plan. I suppose it is about being at the right place at the right time and having the right people behind you. There is luck that plays into it that way. Although a lot of times good drivers win, so you still need to know what to do. Probably more than anything it just means have a little bit of experience so that you can handle whatever situation comes up best.

Danica Patrick’s Appearances and Richmond Run

April 25, 2013 By Vinny O'Hare Leave a Comment

danicapatrickdaytona1Media magnet, Danica Patrick has had a busy month, with t.v. appearances and a divorce that was just finalized on April 17th.  She appeared on the Today Show.  Where she was asked about her performance this year.

She explained, “I’ve got a really great crew, I’ve got a great crew chief and we have fun.  I think that when you have fun,  good things come from it.”

Then there was the memorable Colbert report appearance, which brought out her fun witty side.

Colbert asked, “What do you do to psyche yourself up before a race?”

In which she replied, “I eat.”

The interview ended with Colbert giving her a headshot pic and asking her if he could be a sponsor on her car.  Which I think would be a hilarious sight to see although sponsors probably wouldn’t approve it.

This Saturday is the Toyota Owners 400 Sprint Cup race at Richmond.  Danica Patrick will be making her 4th stock car appearance at Richmond.  She has raced on this track in a Nationwide car 3 times and has an average start of 24th and an average finish of 29th.  Danica has had a very sporadic beginning in the Sprint Cup series.   From starting on the Pole at Daytona, to in the rear qualifying with mid-pack finishes.  One can only speculate what would happen if she had better qualifying runs and started in the front consistently.

The Stewart- Haas racing team as a whole has been struggling with their cars and has yet to figure out how to make the new Gen 6 car fast.  Danica’s crew chief, Tony Gibson seems to be racking his brain, trying to get Danica’s car better.  So you can’t say they aren’t trying.  Ryan Newman leads the team in Sprint Cup standings at 17th,   Tony Stewart 21st and Danica Patrick at 25th.  With that being said,  it will be hard to say where Danica will qualify?  She could have another break out performance like Martinsville, where most observers speculated she would finish many laps down, when in fact she ended up finishing an outstanding 12th.

However,  I will say that Danica’s constructive feedback is encouraging.  She said on the car radio in Kansas,  she was adding notes to her book of changes, where she writes her notes, about the changes that need to be made to the car.  Her aggressiveness is there, with a great ability to pass and she’s getting much better at her re-starts.  She is definately growing as a driver.  I remember at the the beginning of last year at a pit stop, her commenting, she has wasn’t used to the pit crew jumping out at her, I can say she has come a long way from those worries.  Now if Stewart-Haas racing can give her a fast solid consistent cars, I know she’s capable of finishing in Victory Lane.
