Hello again Nascar fans. Hope you all enjoyed another amazing race. I know I did. I thought it was going to be rain shortened again but thank goodness the rain gods kept the rain at bay and the this race was able to be completed in full. Once again Jack Roush has found himself in victory lane yet again this weekend. Way to go Matt Kenseth.
Well the race got off without a hitch again and Johnson took the lead from McMurray who brought the group to the green flag for the start of the race. The rain started early this week, lap 8 brought out the first caution for weather and sprinkles on the track. That did not last to long at first but within a lap or two there were at least as many delays for the sprinkles as well. Finally the race restarted with Johnson leading the pack down to the restart and followed closely by Jamie McMurray, Jeff Gordon, and the Busch Brothers one right behind the other.
Rain once again brought out the caution flag for the second time on lap 42 and was once again for just a few sprinkles on the track. The usual pit stops were made and Kurt Busch brought the pack back to green flag racing on lap 46 but not for long as Johnson came out of nowhere and retook the lead from Busch. Nice move there JJ! Things stayed pretty quiet after that until my man Jeff Gordon love tapped that wall coming out of turn 2 and kept on going! Way to go Jeff! A couple laps later and my man was up front and in the lead. I was loving that. Things continued in much the same fashion for a while. A few lead changes between the same few drivers but nothing spectacular.
Well then for the third time the rain brought out the caution on lap 141 once again delaying the race for a few laps. They restarted the race again under the green flag on lap 151 and we were back at it with Matt Kenseth at the front of the pack. Matt continues to lead when for the fourth time during the race the caution flag was waved once again for rain. Oh my gosh. Seven laps later after a few lead changes the race restarted and Kenseth once again brought the field to the green flag. Gordon took the lead on lap 196 for a short time then on lap 207 comes the fifth caution of the night. Woo hoo! That was incredible as Harvick slammed the wall after losing his motor. Sorry about your luck there Harvick but that’s racing. Haha.
Lap 215 and it’s back to green flag racing with Matt Kenseth bringing them around to the green flag with Jeff Gordon hot on his heels. What a great race for those last 45 laps! That was exciting and really clean good racing. I was really pulling for Jeff as they came around every turn. But in the end it was Kenseth bringing it home for the second time and being the first driver to win the first two events of the season since Gordon did the same thing back in 1997. Way to go Kenseth, congratulations to you and to Roush Racing.
That was really some great racing those last laps there between Kenseth and Gordon. I like good clean racing. I heard that both of them are pretty much mistake free and it is just a joy to watch them race like that. I would also like to take a minute to say something about the commercials. Every year they make new commercials and every year they top themselves with even funnier stuff. So far this year I would like to recognize the following commercials for really cracking me up. First I would like to say that the Aflac commercial where the duck inflates the tires and makes Carl’s ride like a monster truck was hilarious! Also the Home Depot commercial with Joey Logano where he goes there to pick up some race fans was equally entertaining. It wouldn’t be a Nascar season of commercials without a contribution from T-Stew and the boys at Old Spice. The new Old Spice Swagger commercial featuring Tony was pretty entertaining as well. Anyways, I may add my favorite commercials every weekend so perhaps you can Youtube them and enjoy them for yourselves.
