Hello Nascar fans. Hope everyone is doing well this week. It’s been a busy one thats for sure. Well first off I would like to say congratulations to Tony Stewart on his victory Sunday and his first as owner/driver of the Office Depot/Old Spice Chevrolet. Hope there are many more to come Tony! Also I would just briefly like to mention my distaste and total loss of respect for Kyle Busch. Genna’s article summed it up really well but I would just like to say a few words about that and about Nascar in general.
First of all, I totally have lost all respect for Kyle Busch with his disrespectful and childish act Saturday night. There should be some kind of penalty for his behavior. I can hardly believe that it was allowed to be seen much less just allowed in general. His was obviously a choice made in poor taste and very little consideration for anyone but himself. What an insult to not only Sam Bass but even musicians. My daughter has a hat that Sam Bass actually drew on for her, I would never allow it to be destroyed purposely. Wow Kyle Busch, your lack of conscience among other things just lends to the list of reasons why I just dont like you. You have officially been moved to the Kevin Harvick list of losers. Way to go man, way to go.
Second I would like to just say a few things about driver “bashing”. As long as some one is not wishing a driver ill will or harm, I personally think that some people need to just suck it up and quit being so defensive. Passion about our favorite drivers is what makes this sport so great, each one of us is passionate about a driver for various reasons. Whatever the reasons, I am sure we have all had moments when our driver got short changed or wrecked out or was trading paint with another driver and we were yelling and cussing up a storm at that other driver for interfering with our drivers intentions of winning!! How dare they!! I dont think any of us can say we have never been in that position.
Racing is a passionate sport. There are drivers everyone loves, like Mark Martin. What’s not to like? Even other drivers are hard pressed to say anything bad about Mark. But then too you have drivers like Dale Earnhardt, who while he was very much loved was also just as well hated by many also. Another example is Jeff Gordon, my favorite driver. I have been a fan of Gordon since 1992 when he was first coming onto the scene and I have never looked back. However much I LOVED him during the time since, many thousands of others hated him and still do. Gordon is an accomplished driver and has many trophies and wins to support the fact that this man can drive and does it well. However, that does not stop people from showing up at races with shirts on that say things like Gordon is Gay. Where ever you go, people are always bashing Gordon. So I say to you is that fair? Why is it so okay to pick on Gordon which has been going on for years but when someone has something passionate to say about a driver, all of the sudden now its driver bashing. I say to you it is NOT driver bashing, its part of the sport whether you like it or you dont and thats the way its always been and it always will be. As long as I like Gordon I will always dislike drivers like Harvick, but I am selective and they have to have really really done somthing bad for me to dislike them. I have my personal reasons for disliking Harvick and Busch as well. This incident Saturday night just solidified my feelings towards him and I am sorry if that offends you, but I will not pretend to like or support people that are not worthy.
The race Sunday was great and I really really liked it. What a great finish for Tony, I was happy to see him win for his new team. I had a great time in North Carolina visiting the Stewart Haas facility. It is a huge place nestled among scenic natural beauty. Inside although new, they do have a little memorabilia going on with Tony’s check from the All Star event in the glass case there at the shop. Stop on by and pick up your free samples of Old Spice deodorant and Old Spice shower gel. Tony Stewart, looking out for dudes every where making sure you smell clean and fresh. I knew he raced clean, haha.
In news related to Jeremy Mayfield’s case, a source has learned that there was a third unidentified substance that Jeremy tested positive for at Richmond and that substance it has been learned is methamphetamine. Under the conditions of a gag order issued by the court on May 29th, neither Mayfield or his attorney is allowed to comment further. I was so hoping all this was going to be proven untrue and unfounded and it may yet still play out to be such, but right now it doesnt sound so good. Once again Jeremy our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time and here is hoping that all this is resolved soon and that you are hopefully exonerated of all suspicion. Good luck to you and god bless.
Well the points race is heating up now after Sunday’s win by Tony Stewart and he remains in the points lead and ahead of my man Jeff by 71 points. Let’s see how they stand beyond Tony and Jeff.
