Hey Nascar friends. Hope everyone had a great weekend and an oppurtunity to watch the race at Chicagoland. What a race!! What a finish!! That was some of the best racing I have ever seen on a 1.5 mile track! Just incredible at the end when they were racing like three wide and all. That was truly some of the most exciting racing i have seen this year. And once again Mark Martin was victorious. Congratulations again to Mark Martin. He is really kicking ass and taking names this year and I couldnt be happier. I mean Mark was my husband’s favorite driver and I just wish he was here to see the amazing run that Mark is having this year.
With this victory at Chicagoland, Mark racks up his fourth win this season. Everybody is talking about this feat because as you know Mark is one of the veterans that is still out there racing week in and week out. Who would have guessed that when he left Roush Racing that his career would take off and flourish like this a short two seasons later. I think Mark is a great guy and one I have always longed to meet. Perhaps someday I will get the oppurtunity to do just that. That would be incredible. I will have to ask my buddy John if he can garner a Mark Martin interview for Homestead. We are going to go down there and hang out for the weekend this year. I have always wanted to go to Homestead and check it out. Anyway, its on the “to do” list now.
Well the Busch brothers seem to be at odds with other drivers two weekends in a row. Last weekend Tony did me that favor and put that green M &M’s car into the fence. That was incredible and I totally enjoyed it. Someone needs to knock him back down a peg or two. I heard he threw a temper tantrum and had a fit because he got caught up in that neck to neck last lap racing. I dont feel sorry for him and Tony said he didnt mean to do it. I believe Tony and personally, I thought it was the greatest moment of the race! Now this weekend as you know, Kurt Busch who I dislike almost as much as his brother was complaining about Jimmy Johnson and his racing style as well. What makes those two think that they should be immune to the stuff every other driver has experienced. You know if anyone should have been mad it should have been Carl Edwards back at Talledega when he went for that wild ride. I never once heard him say anything bad about the other drivers involved. Now to me thats a class act. I like Carl anyway. He is very friendly and willing to sign autographs for fans. He was crazy enough to get right down there with the fans at Daytona last year.
Well after last season leaving Joe Gibbs to start his new team, Tony was taking a large risk and one that he wasnt sure was going to pay off. At this point in the season I think it is safe to say that Tony has made the right decision. He has proven that too by winning 2 races this season as an owner driver. His teammate, Ryan Newman, has not won but has done equally well finishing among the top 20 each week. My hat goes off to Stewart and Newman and I wish them continued success.
Well the results of Jeremy Mayfield’s drug test are still being debated. You know I just wish they could end this drama. They have already destroyed one family’s life and possibly made it so he can never make a living again within this sport. That however remains to be seen. But the stigma created by the doubt placed in the minds of those he works with may be to much for some to over come which is really to bad. I believe that it is possible that somehow things got messed up or mixed up and that there is a possibility that something else may have caused that positive reading for methamphetamine. I am no doctor so I have no clue what that would be but I will say that no system is flawless and that mistakes are made all the time. I just think that perhaps they should have double and triple checked the information before releasing and opening up that can of worms. If something ever does get decided in that case I will be sure and let you know.
