Hello Nascar fans and Happy Thanksgiving to you all. I hope everyone has a joyous and safe holiday weekend. Well let’s turn our attention to the series and see what news can be found this week.
Well here is an interesting note. Jeff Gordon is traveling to Brazil this weekend along with Michael Schumaker to participate in a kart race event in that country. It was confirmed Tuesday that Jeff and Michael will both drive in the International Challenge of the Stars. Indy Racing League driver Tony Kanaan will also participate in the race. This will be the fourth running of the event and the proceeds are going to help local charities in the area as well as victims of the recents floods.
Here is something fun and if you have Sirius Satellite Radio and listen to Tony’s show, you will know that once again, it’s time for the Stewie Awards. The Stewie’s are awarded for events like Best Drama of the Season which last year went to Kevin Harvick. Nominees this year include, for best original drama Ryan Newman for winning the Daytona 500, Dale Jr. for winning the Bud Shootout, and Kyle Busch who won like 8 bazillion races and finished the season 10th in points. Driver nominated for best Comedy Sequence in a Nascar moment is Kenny Wallace for falsly announcing Rusty was coming out of retirement. Nominees for Best Stunt include Jeff Gordon for hitting the wall at Vegas, Brian Vickers who lost a wheel during the Coke 600,and that crazy wreck at Phoenix that landed Gilliland on top of Scott Speed’s car, lands the driver who started it among the nominees also, Juan Pablo Montoya. Wow I didnt even know that Tony could laugh. He always looks soooo serious. haha
Well the economy is even hitting home for some of the drivers in this the off season. Scott Riggs, who has been on the outside looking in before, may be finding himself in that position again this coming season. It appears that Riggs is searching for a full time ride for the coming season but without anything solid being offered yet, he is hoping someone will offer him a fair deal that allows him to drive this season. Scott says he is worried but is going to put faith in his family and the lord and hope that things come around. He says he has alot of people throwing offers at him but he doesnt want to sign with anyone who is pushing to sign with that sign now or forget it mentality. He is hoping that something will come through in time to secure himself a ride for the coming season.
David Reutimann’s crew chief Ryan Pemberton is leaving Michael Waltrip Racing. Reutimann says he thinks that Ryan is going with the Red Bull team and that he is very disappointed. David did say however that the search for a new crew chief is underway. When they do find a new one, he will be Reutimann’s third crew chief in as many seasons, racing with Frank Kerr in 07 and Ryan this season. Also his Nationwide Sponsor, Aaron’s has only agreed to 10 races in the coming season and that is disappointing to Reutimann who wants to drive another full season with Nationwide Series as he has the past 2 years.
Well that’s about all I could find right now. Sunday will be better and it will be after the holiday so there may be more going on. Well everyone have a great and safe holiday and eat lots of turkey. I’ll see you back here on Sunday race fans! Until then, have a great holiday weekend.

I am amazed that Scott Riggs doesn’t have a ride for next year. With all the really bad drivers out there that have rides it is just amazing to me.

I was really shocked myself. Scott seems like a real stand up kind of guy from what i have gathered seeing him in person and listening to him speak and his responses to various questions. I hope that he finds a ride before the season opener. I would love to see him in the mix again this coming season.
