Hey everyone!! Hope all you fans are having a great week. I was a bit disappointed the rain delayed the race on Sunday but was glad they got to race Monday despite my inability to watch due to work. I saw a small portion of the race and was sorry I had to leave and go to work. That’s the only bad thing about having to race on Mondays, work usually interferes. None the less congratulations are in order for FedEx and their driver Denny Hamlin for delivering the goods and taking the win at Pocono.
I would also just like to give a word of condolence to Denny Hamlin and family. His grandmother passed away just days before the Pocono race. Also a family member of a Joe Gibbs employee died recently also which effected all of them who work on the race team. Anyway our sympathy to the families.
The win at Pocono broke the winless streak for Hamlin who has not finished first in a race since 2008 Martinsville. Lets hope the young gun can add to the win column again this season. Hamlin’s win helped secure his place in the race for the chase this season placing him in a solid 5th position in the points standings at this time.
My two favorite Hendricks drivers, Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon also finished among the top ten at Pocono. Jimmy Johnson was not far behind finishing in 13th. Tony Stewart finished tenth and team mate Ryan Newman was not far behind either as he landed in 14th right behind Johnson.
Well Kasey Kahne may feel secure in his ride at Richard Petty Motorsports but according to the King himself, Richard Petty, they will still have a four team stable but there will be some swaparoos going on between the teams. No word on whether the changes will be among drivers, pit members, or both. However Richard Petty said that the changes are being instituted now to see how they work so that if they dont there will still be time to change up their game plan in time for next season.
Well I missed some of the news on the Mayfield front. I sure wish they would get this thing over with. So many accusations no one really knows who to believe at this point. Nascar has said that Mayfield lied about recieving a phone call requesting that he go to a laboratory to obtain a second drug test within two hours of the time that they called and gave him the message. Nascar disputes Mayfields claim that he never recieved the message in time to get to the laboratory by saying that they have recorded evidence that he spoke with someone and informed that person that he would have to contact his attorney first before going to a laboratory. The drama continues.
Well I am not sure how I feel about this change in sponsor for Matt Kenseth, I mean for years he has been the DeWalt driver. Now they are changing up his sponsor for next season by signing a multi year deal with Crown Royal. I mean, I’ll drink to that and I will drink Crown on occassion as well, but I am not sure I like this combination for Matt. Or maybe I am just defiant to change. I dont really like it, hahahaha.
Well going into the weekend, Stewart is still our points leader followed by Johnson and Jeff Gordon while Kurt Busch and Denny Hamlin round out the top five. And right behind them the remainder of the top ten drivers, include Kasey Kahne, Mark Martin, Juan Pablo Montoya, Carl Edwards, and Ryan Newman.
Well thats about it for tonight. Ill be back Sunday hopefully barring any rain delays and no work. Have a great rest of the week and I will see you this weekend. Have a good one Nascar fans.
