That’s right Nascar fans. The familiar look of the brightly colored M&M’s car with it’s yellow paint scheme and colorful M&M’s all over, found itself in familiar territory again this afternoon. That’s right folks, Kyle Busch once again rode to victory lane following a five lap shootout after a late restart twice! Let’s take a look and see what happened today in Vegas.
The race started out with the pole sitter and eventual race winner Kyle Busch starting from the back of the field after a engine change or something. That left Jimmy Johnson on the pole for the start of the race. But it was a short lived start, with the first caution coming on lap 2 when Brad Kaselowski smacked the wall in turn 4 bursting a tire and sending him spinning. There was trouble early on for Matt Kenseth as well when his engine shut off on the backstretch and then he was to fast exiting pit road and had to start at the end of the longest line. What a way to start the day! Johnson brought the field to the green flag followed closely by Kurt Busch, Kevin Harvick and Ryan Newman.
It wasn’t even two laps later and on lap 7 the second caution was issued for Matt Kenseth’s blown motor. That was an unfortunate and quick end to his Vegas weekend. Johnson once again led the field to the green flag. The same cast of characters following closely behind. Things remain pretty much that way with most of the usual suspects running up front until lap 51 when Carl Edwards snagged the lead from Johnson. Dale Jr.’s luck doesn’t seem to be improving this weekend either when he was observed entering pit road to fast and had to do a pass-through. A few laps later comes caution 3 for debris on the back straightaway but nothing exciting.
After pit stops and all that good stuff Johnson brought them to the green flag for the third time today on lap 64 not followed by Carl Edwards who fell to fifth when he didn’t restart well. Then a second Roush car loses an engine on lap 74 when David Ragan blows an engine. With pit stops taking place my E-harmony true love, NOT, Kevin Harvick, took over the lead for the first time and brings the field to green on lap 82. However 3 short laps later Greg Biffle takes the lead from Harvick and I can breathe again. haha. Everything is going along pretty well then wham bam thank you mame, the fifth caution comes out when Edwards gives Stremme a love tap and sends him spinning however David kept the car from hitting anything.
It was back to green flag racing on lap 99 with Biffle still leading the way. Caution six of the day comes along on lap 122 when Mark Martin blew his engine. On the restart it’s Johnson once again out in front and again there were another four cautions before we got to lap 175. Shortly after it was back to racing and this time it was a good 45 laps before the 11th caution was out when my man Jeff Gordon blew a tire. I was not happy at all when that happened.
Finally it’s back to the green flag racing and once again on lap 258, dare I say it, another caution. And there were to be like two or three more before the end of the race. One for debris again and the next two were for wrecks first involving Paul Menard and Marcos Ambrose, then with only 4 laps to go, Johnson spun and hit the wall hard in turn 2 and puts the brakes on Kyle Busch one last time. But it was not to be enough for Edwards tonight as the third Roush car of the night blows an engine as the white flag was waved. It’s not like Roush to have that kind of weekend. I wonder what happened to their motors? It will be interesting to hear what the guys have to say about that this week coming up.
So for the first time this season Kyle Busch brings it in to victory lane for Joe Gibbs Racing. Congratulations to Kyle Busch. I hope this isn’t the first of many again this season. Last season for a while there it was the Kyle Busch show. I am hoping that doesn’t carry over this season too. Here is how the guys fell in behind the winner.

Well that is how the day ended up. It was a pretty caution filled yet uneventful day. Except for the bad luck with the engines for Roush. Hope they get things fixed for next weekend. Until then have a great week everyone. See you then Nascar fans.
