Well he has done it, 3 time Sprint Cup champion Jimmie Johnson is now a 4 Time champion. He ran a good race where at one point both him and Mark Martin had to go to the back of the field. Jimmie Johnson and the 48 Lowes team did a great job all year. They were by far the most consistent team all year.
Crew chief Chad Knaus and the pit crew did a great job every week, especially last week when they did over an hour working on Jimmie’s car after the wreck with Sam Hornish. I am glad that I am starting to see a great dynasty go about their work and win another championship. Congrats to all involved.
The race was very exciting and it included some old school NASCAR with action between Tony Stewart and Juan Pablo Montoya wrecking each other until Juan Pablo ended up with a 2 lap penalty. Mark Martin finished second in points and Jeff Gordon finished 3rd giving Hendricks a 1,2,3 finish in the points. Rick Hendricks was not at the track to celebrate as he had to leave early to attend a family emergency, hope all is ok there.
No matter who your favorite driver is you have to appreciate what the 48 team has done this year. The 48 crew is Andy Brown, Rich Gutierrez, Mike Knauer, Mike Lingerfelt, Ron Malec, Kenneth Purcell, Art Simmons, and Jeremy West.
Congrats to all of you and all the race fans this year for supporting NASCAR. See you in Daytona!
