So today we head out west for the race at Phoenix International raceway for the second to last race of the year. My favorite driver Jimmie Johnson has a nice lead going into the final two races, although it has been done before I think it’s safe to say he will be our champion again. (sorry folks)
I am amazed at all the Jimmie Johnson bashers as of late, don’t they realize they are watching history being made by a very good driver and a very good race team. Ok maybe I am a little bias but when I hear that this is ruining the sport I have to disagree. Did the Chicago Bulls run with Michael Jordan hurt basketball? Did the New York Yankees of the late 1970′s ruin baseball? Did the Edmonton Oilers of the 1980′s ruin Hockey? I don’t think so. Right now I would love to relive that era again but you know what we will never see that again in our lifetime. That is more reason to embrace what you are seeing and that is history.
In about a week all you will see is newspapers printing articles about a dynasty, is that really such a bad thing? I am also a Dale jr fan but if this was Dale jr doing this there would be no discussion at all. It is a sad double standard that is happening here. Maybe it’s because its a Jeff Gordon teamate or a Hendricks team and everyone is sick of them dominating almost every week. I just think it is wrong.
Would I love it if Mark Martin was able to pull it off and win the chase? Yes I would and I am a Jimmie Johnson fan. You have to have a soft spot for Mark Martin and what he has accomplished and the only thing missing is the Championship trophy. I wouldn’t mind him interrupting Jimmie and the 48 Lowe’s Chevy success, Jimmie would probably be just fine with it himself.
So today at Phoenix we have a lot of things to watch for, and we can’t forget that Jeff Gordon is still in the picture too. I am looking forward to it and after today’s race we will know exactly what the championship points will be going into the last week.
What are you opinions? Let me know leave a comment.

i saw first hand when jeff came into nascar and it is similiar except jeff was from an area of the country that was not nascar country so he was hated by diehard fans
The only team that benefited from the new no testing rule was HMS, therefore they are running away with everything. You say there would be no backlash if this was Dale Junior. That’s a lie. Not everyone is a Junior fan either. And not just because he’s a HMS driver.
As for this “double standard” you speak of, what about the double standard that most fans AND reporters hold Kyle Busch to? How about you talk about that double standard! I can recall two weeks in a row back in August-September where Kyle declined a Nationwide interview and got bashed from head to toe for it but the very next week Kevin Harvick declined a Nationwide interview, but that was okay. Also, people give Kyle crap if he’s interviewed, even if he gives a good interview and doesn’t ‘whine and cry’ like most Kyle bashers like to say, but then if he declines an interview so he doesn’t say something out of line to embarrass himself or his team, teammates, or owners, he gets crap for that too. If you want to talk about a double standard, talk about that one!
We’re just sick and tired of being focefed HMS, Jimmie and “Cheatin’ Chad”.
Whitney I appreciate your comment. I am glad to see a passionate fan like myself posting. While I don’t agree with your comments I am glad you made them as it does bring up an interesting point. Kyle does have a double standard but you have to believe it was from his own doings. He acts like a kid sometimes and brings it on himself.
I know if I worked in tv I would be hounding him for an interview also as he doesn’t think about what he says before he says it. This is what gets him in trouble besides the fact that he is always blaming the other guy in the wreck when 90% of the time it is his aggressive driving style that causes the wreck. I am not a kyle fan but there is a double standard when it comes to him on tv also.
Once again thanks for reading our website. If you would like to contribute a guest post on the subject of Kyle let me know.
All this discussion about water bottles & caution flags, its even been said that Nascar is throwing them or maybe even the drivers, someone suggested they need to have each driver write their car # on their bottle of water so when one gets thrown out it will be traced back to that driver,& I also say they need to analyze the film & see which car or wherever it comes from, they might see it come from Jimmie Johnsons car,one of his fans, or maybe even nascar so it could be a set up since the water bottle caused the caution to happen RIGHT BEFORE Jimmie Johnson would have went a lap down…How convenient.
