Hello Nascar fans and friends. Hope everyone is doing well. By now if you couldnt say Mark Martin before I’m sure its spilling out everyone’s mouth by now. Who would have thought that just over a year ago this man was talking about retirement and here just a short 12 months or so later, here he is winning and looking for a shot at the championship. Nothing would please me more I can tell you that. Even though I am an ardent Jeff Gordon fan and will be until I die, my husband was a Mark Martin fan through and through and I couldnt help but like Mark even though I was a Jeff fan because seriously, there is no real reason to dislike Mark. He is truly one of the most deserving people in Nascar and I am always thrilled to see him winning and doing well. Congratulations to Mark Martin on a slick victory Sunday in an otherwise pretty boring race. And thanks for making it an exciting finish! And hey, Jeff was right behind him so I am okay with a second place for Jeff as well. Way to go Hendricks! Drinks all around!!!
Well that trophy smashing idiot Kyle Busch, and yes I did say idiot, is racing in some special race with the rolex type cars in Daytona prior to the July 4th race. It’s actually the Brumos Porsche 250 and will be run and televised prior to the running of the Sprint Cup race that evening. It will be televised live before the big race that night at 2pm when the green flag drops on the Speed channel.
Dont forget the Sprint Cup boys will be racing under the lights on July 4th at Daytona and once again I will be there cheering on the Hendricks stable of drivers. Ok and maybe a couple of Roush drivers too. Yeah, I hate to admit it but I have met Greg Biffle and I think he is a great guy. Plus he has a charity for animals and I love animals so yeah. Also you gotta love Carl Edwards. I was close enough to grab that man’s behind but I didnt.
However he was a nice guy also and very handsome in person. He signed hats and answered questions and was right there in the mix with the fans. Brave guy I tell you, Daytona fans are crazy!!! I should know, I have been going there for 10 years. Daytona is a great experience for anyone who is a race fan but I still think for the racing action that I actually prefer being able to see everything like at Lowe’s.
Ok, it seems that Kyle Busch seems to think that nobody was offended by his actions last weekend at Nashville upon winning the race actually stating that 99.9 percent of the response has been positive. May I ask who he was asking opinions of??? Because almost everyone I know is disgusted and turned off by that disrespectful act. One friend of mine stated to me that he has left musical events by big name groups in the past because someone in the band has decided to smash his guitar on stage. My friend is both a musician and a Nascar fan. He says he has lost all respect for Kyle Busch after that display. I had already lost all respect for that pompous windbag so no great loss for me. The picture of the guitar after the infamous smashing speaks volumes. If he had asked for a prop guitar for that purpose or even asked to have trophies made for his crew so they could have a part of that win would have been way more appropriate. Some things never change along with some people. I would just like to say to Kyle Busch that dude, 99.9 percent of fans I have spoken to or heard from thinks that was a childish and disrespectful move on your part. Seriously dude, was that really necessary?? Think things through before you act on them. And by the way Kyle, Dale Jr. fans are NOT crazy. So whatever .
I would like to extend my condolences to the family of Nascar Mexico driver, Carlos Pardo, who was tapped from behind sending him spinning into the wall near the pit road entrance. Upon impact at a speed of approx 120 miles per hour, the car disintegrated and Pardo was immediately removed from the wreckage and sent to the hospital with massive injuries to which he lost his fight some 45 minutes after the initial impact. He made one Nationwide start back in 2006 and won the series championship in 2004. He was 33 years old and is survived by his brother who also races the Nascar Mexico circuit. Truly a horrible event and one that I know Nascar has worked hard to avoid in any of their circuits.
There is a possibility that Nascar may consider letting auto makers from outside the United States such as Toyota, who is already in Nascar, help supplement the sport in the wake of all the trouble the big 3 auto makers in this country are facing. Brian France says that they have been discussing it for a while and that it may well be a possibility in the future with the american manufacturers scaling back their programs. Hopefully it would not come to that. I am not sure I could back drivers in Hondas or something. That almost brings a circus clown car to mind. No offense Nascar, we love you, but that would be a bit odd now wouldnt it? Let’s hope it doesnt come to that.
Well this week the boys are at Infineon Raceway. The 1.99 mile road course in the heart of wine country. I have never been to a road course race before but I imagine its not quite as exciting as the super speedways that we are used to. I am still not sure why they throw the 2 road courses in each season but its okay for a change I guess. At least its only 2 races per season I believe. This one and then the one at Watkins Glen.
Well I will be back later this week with any facts I can find on Infineon Raceway. I believe my friend Riki Ratchman will be at the track this weekend because its near his home as he lives in California. So if you see him be sure and say hello. He is a stand up guy and a real Nascar fan to be sure. Well have a great start to your week. I’ll see you back here later this week. Until then Nascar fans.
