Hey there everyone. Hope you all got to see that race yesterday. I sure wasnt expecting Kurt Busch to end up in victory lane last night. I didnt see that one coming at all. It wasnt all sunshine and ponies for some of the drivers last night.
One of Greg Biffle’s tire changers was taken to a Charlotte area hospital last night after being hit on pit road by Tony Stewart during a late pit stop. No word on rear tire changer Kevin McDowell’s condition following the accident. Hope you are back to work soon Kevin, good luck.
Well Jeff Burton was not a happy camper at all last night. After the race as Kyle Busch was emerging from his car, Burton came up and gave Busch a piece of his mind for a move that Burton felt Busch did purposely and caused Burton to cut a tire. I saw the exchange on tv and was not surprised at Busch’s lack of well just about everything in his response. He seemed to me to be smirking and ignoring Burton the entire time. Just another of the many reasons I dont like Kyle Busch.
As for his brother winning the race, well I admit in the past he has never been among my favorite drivers and didnt really do anything to help that situation when he appeared in Daytona along with several other more popular drivers a couple of years ago and snubbed fans and refused autographs while Gordon, Johnson, and Casey Mears were more than gracious enough to. Anyways I admit now that he doesnt seem quite as bad as before so maybe he is just more comfortable in his role now. I hope so.
Two of the drivers who were favored to win going into yesterday’s race also ended their days not so well. Denny Hamlin who finished 18th in the race, says he ruined his car when another driver who was favored to win, Jimmie Johnson hit the fence and came down at him causing Hamlin to hit the grass to avoid hitting Johnson. Hamlin says that move messed up his car. Looks like its back to the design and drive program Denny.
Looks like after the dust settled on the track at Lowe’s last night, the points standings got shook up a little bit. Harvick still remains first in points, but Kyle Busch is only 29 points behind him in second. Gordon moved up to fourth in the points with his solid 6th place finish. Johnson dropped 3 places to seventh in the points and Mark Martin is in 10th place in the points.
This weekend coming up they will be racing at Pocono. I havent ever been there to see a race. Maybe one day I will. Thats on the list right behind hugging Jeff Gordon. I do like Jeff Gordon though, so much so that I named my puppy Gordon. And thats no story either. Lol. Have a good week .
Well its been a while since I have been here writing for you wonderful Nascar fans. I dont know if any of you would remember me but I wrote for the site for a while, over a year in fact. However with the demands of college ever increasing, I had to take a break for a while to concentrate on my studies. Well with all the excitement and rivalries ongoing this season, I felt the time was right to jump back in. So here we go!
Tomorrow is the Coca Cola 600 race from my favorite track, Lowe’s Motor Speedway. Now we went last year and had a great time visiting all the shops and of course the Hendricks Museum, but the race unfortunately got rained out and we had to come back and were unable to stay for the Monday running because I had school to get back to. Well so far this weekend, I have heard that the weather is not the best up there right now. Last night my friend Gayle said that it was really bad lightning and thunder. So here’s hoping the weather holds out for this afternoon’s Nationwide race and for the big race tomorrow.
Well the Hendricks rivalry between Gordon and Johnson continues to brew as they both prepare for this weekend’s longest race of the season. Gordon who drives a specially painted stars and stripes themed car this weekend, is well aware of the challenges of such a long race. Gordon says that making the adjustment as the race transitions from daytime to nighttime driving, could mean making a lot of adjustments to the car. All the practices for the race have been held during the daytime this weekend and so the only taste of night driving that they can rely on is their experience from last weekend’s All Star Race.
Right now my least favorite driver, Kevin Harvick is the points leader going into this weekend’s race. Gordon is in a solid 6th in the points and his rival and fellow Hendricks driver Johnson remains in 4th in the points. Another of my favorite drivers, Mark Martin is in 11th going into the race tomorrow. Among other drivers, Tony Stewart is in 14th and Kasey Kahne is in 21st. Kyle Busch is in 2nd and Carl Edwards is in 10th. Edwards by the way is on the pole for this afternoon’s Nationwide race.
My favorite driver, Jeff Gordon, will be experiencing not one but two 600′s in the coming weeks. Tomorrow of course he faces the challenges of racing 600 miles in the Coca Cola 600 Race, however on July 10th when they race in Chicago, Gordon will be experiencing his second 600. That 600 is a special one indeed. As Gordon races that day he will have achieved his 600th career Nascar Sprint Cup Series start. Gordon remains 6th in all time wins with 82 to his credit. He remains a four time series champion and the drive for a fifth championship remains a career goal for Jeff.
The Nationwide race is on today at 2pm and is to be broadcast on ABC. The Nascar Countdown to green is on at 2pm actually with the race to follow after with a green flag start around 2:30pm. The Coca Cola 600 will be broadcast tomorrow on FOX at around 5:45pm eastern time. Enjoy the race Nascar fans and I’ll see you tomorrow.
